Fort George is once again set to host Celebration of the Centuries - our largest re-enactment event. In this weekend long celebration, re-enactors will bring the mighty fortress to life with a living timeline depicting over two thousand years of Scottish history.
Wander through the living history camps, dating back to Picts and Romans, dance along to our big band in our Forties zone and watch as stunt horse riders from the TV series Outlander dramatically tell the tale of the Highlander Lady saved from capture by the Redcoats.
Free entry for HIstoric Scotland members. Non-members: £12; Concession: £9.60; Children 7-15: £7.70 You can book tickets from the Fort George website.

Glencoe Archaeology Open Day
Free event at Glencoe NTS visitor centre. The day will include an audio-visual installation inside the reconstructed 17th-century turf house featuring storytelling, creative soundscapes and filmmaking produced by researchers and students from the University of Glasgow.
Outside there will be an exhibition and artefact handling display exploring the archaeological investigations being carried out in and around Glencoe over the month of August, and family orientated archaeology activities!

NOSAS are looking for volunteers on the 12th/13th August to help remove gorse scrub off the important Neolithic long cairn at Carn Glas, Essich 3 miles SW of Inverness (as described in the recent blog article - https://nosasblog.wordpress.com/).
